Dear Mum and all,

Just a few lines to let you know I’m keeping well and thinking of you always. Things are much the same here, though the days feel long and the nights longer. But we’re doing our bit and standing strong.

I hope this finds you all in good health and spirits back home. I often think of our kitchen table chats and your warm meals, Mum – nothing quite like it here. Give my love to everyone – tell them I’m holding up fine.

We all talk about home often. It keeps us going. I carry your letters in my pocket and re-read them when I can – they mean the world.
